“From dust you came, to dust you shall return.”

With those words we are reminded of a truth that many try awfully hard to avoid: we are mortal.  Our mortality has all kinds of implications for the ways we live our lives.

We can hurt and be hurt.

We can experience and cause fear.

We can get sick and, yes, we will die.

We can also love and be loved.

Grant and receive forgiveness.

Revel in truth, faith and hope.

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the season of Lent.  To start the season off well, we will gather at 7 pm for an Ash Wednesday service.  During the service we will pray, read scripture and sing as we consider that we, indeed, come from dust.  We will also celebrate anew that God loves dust.
